Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! There are literally dozens of things that will turn the check engine light on. The engine light comes on when the engine controller sees a problem somewhere in a monitored component or system that prevents it's proper operation and sets a fault code. The first step in diagnosing the problem is to use as can tool or code reader to see what fault codes have set in the ECM. Do you know what codes have set?
