Audi TT Quattro: how do you fix the glove compartment key lock

This answer was rated:

how do you fix the glove compartment key lock mechanism on my 2003 Audi TT. the pins which attach the lock to the latch broke off.
Hello ,
Here to answer automotive questions and make you feel comfortable and become familiar with your product

If the lock/latch mechanism is damaged the entire door glove box needs replacement. Unfortunately the the mechanism is not sold separately.
You may try to get only the door but you will have to ask the dealer. I am pretty sure that you must get the entire assembly. Make sure you have the interior color code which can be found on the sticker in the spare tire well and note is it is a quattro or not.

If you do not mind drilling the holes, it may look and work a bit funny. It is the same amount of work to replace it.

Let me know if you have further questions regarding the repair?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

It will cost me hundreds of dollars to replace the door which is not an option. I understand from some other people on the internet that using screws to reattach the lock to the glove compartment latch does work. Since you don't feel this is a viable option, I guess there is nothing else a need. Thanks.
