Audi A6 Quattro: I had my steering rack replaced on 2001 Audi

Customer Question

I had my steering rack replaced on 2001 Audi a6 2.7t. Since then my ESP and ABS light have come on. I bought a replacement ABS sensor but that is not what is the problem. I had it taken to another garage and the code comes back problem with steering angle sensor. What do I do at this point. I need specific instructions as I need to get the car on the road asap.

My name is Bryan I will be glad to assist you today in answering your questions.

What code are you getting?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

I don't have a code just what the garage told me.... 'steering angle sensor'

Expert:  Bryan replied 4 years ago.
That sensor had to have been damaged during installation of the steering rack
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

So where do I go from here? Do I need to buy one or do I need to take off the steering column and reset from there?

Expert:  Bryan replied 4 years ago.
I would say you just need to replace the steering angle sensor which is located at the bottom of the steering column the column itself is fine, but the sensor is bad.
