I have a 02 Audi A6 3.0 Quatrro. There is a major leak coming from above the oil pan just behind the large pulley above it. Any ideas what's leaking and is it a DIY and how much would it run me to repair.

The leak is significant. I'll fill up the reservoir with water (because I'm just running tests) and about 5 seconds later you can here the reservoir gurgling and bam all the water comes out of that spot
Hello and welcome, Super mechanic here. Thank you for trusting us with your vehicle concerns, I will do my best to help you with your question.

That would be the water pump. It is run off the timing belt. Labor is 7.4 hours. Water pump factory price is about $275. After market is about $100. You will want do the timing belt while it's off if it hasen't been done yet, (and the miles are over 100K)
With an average labor rate of $90 per hour in the US, that's $666.00 labor.

I can't say if you would be able to do it or not.

You need some special tools for the timing gears and belt.

I have the instructions for the pump in a PDF format HERE
