Hello, 2005 A3 1.9tdi 200k km on the clock, engine does not sound too good. have a listen at following clip I have uploaded onto Youtube.

Hi,how are you? What this sound sounds like is the alternator bearing or a bearing in one of the pulleys starting to fail. What you can do is buy a automotive stethoscope at most parts stores and pinpoint exactly which pulley the noise is coming from.

Hi mike,

I only recently roughly 6 weeks ago had timing belt done and also tensioner pulley ??, would it be related ??.

Thanks Declan

Very possible that something during the job was not installed tightly enough and has worked itself loose.
