How do I remove headlight assembly on my Audi A6?

Customer Question

How do I remove the headlight assembly on a 1999 A6 Quattro? I removed the 2 screws at top, but there is still something holding it.

Hi. Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer.

Headlights, Removing and Installing

  • Remove front bumper.

  • Remove both Torx bolts (T30) -1-.
  • Remove interior Torx bolt (T30) using 1/4"-Torx-bit insert and extension.

NOTE: If necessary, use magnet to remove bolt.

  • Disconnect multi-function harness connectors for headlights.
  • Turn headlights -2- toward centre of vehicle and remove from chassis toward front.

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to help me. However, I don't find this helpful. You start by stating remove front bumper. I don't think I have to do this and if I do I need pictures on how to do it. I am trying to remove the headlight, not the front bumper.

To get the head light assembly off, the bumper needs to be removed...

  • Unscrew screw w/washer assembly - 6 - from wheelhousing liner - 5 -.
  • Remove socket-head bolts - 7 - and remove bumper cover together with impact absorber toward front.
