98 Audi A4 Quattro Avant: two engine codes showing..knock sensor

Resolved Question:

I have two engine codes showing up on my 98 Audi A4 Quattro Avant: P0116, faulty ECT sensor and P0332, faulty knock sensor. Could they be related to one problem?

They could be related, I would start by replacing the ECT sensor. If this sensor is bad it can cause too much fuel which can cause a misfire setting knock sensor codes. Let mek now if you have questions, thanks.

ok, how hard is it to replace the sensor? Could this cause the car to have trouble starting ocassionally?
Expert:  Dan replied 6 years ago.

Yes, this would cause a hard start because it causes engine to flood. Its a easy part to change, here is a picture.

I replaced the the ECT sensor and both engine codes are still active, any ideas?
Expert:  Dan replied 6 years ago.
Ok, at the sensor check to see one wire has 5v and one wire has good ground. If both are good then replace the thermostat. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.
