#2  Artist: Chokosai Eisho Title: Kakuchu Bijin Kurabe Original Art Date: 1780-1800 Description: Woodblock print. Bijinga. Kasugano of the Sasaya wiping her ear with sleeve of her kimono. Yours is a later version, circa 1920s. Value $80 to $100

#3  Artist: Yoshida Hiroshi Title: Daibutsu Temple Gate (Misty Day in Nikko) Date: 1937 I've seen this print go for $800 to $900 in good condition

#4  Artist: Tsukioka Kogyo Title Senju "The Beauty" Date: 1926 From a play Senju, "the Beauty", comforts Shigehara who is taken as a prisoner for destroying the Temple in Nara. Value $100 to $150

#5 Artist: Toshusai Sharaku Title: Matsumoto Yonesaburo as Kewaizaka no Shosho in the Play "Katakiuchi Noriyaibanashi" Date: 1794 (Yours is a later reproduction circa 1920s) This print is part of the Metropolitan Museum in NYC Description: This portrait features another actor impersonating a female character, in this case an oiran, or high-ranking courtesan, in the Yoshiwara pleasure quarters of Edo. Value: $$80 to $100

#6 Artist: Tsukioka Kogyo Title: Shojo from the series "One Hundred No Dramas (Nogaku hyakuban)" Date: 1893–1908 This print is part of the Art Institute of Chicago. 

Kogyo's Vertical Noh Prints - Shortly before his death in early 1927, Kogyo completed work on his masterpiece series, "One Hundred Noh Dramas." This beautiful series took several years to complete, and reflects Kogyo's consummate skill in drawing and composition. The Noh Theater in Japan is known for its spare stage decoration and sumptuous costumes, and Kogyo's minimalist designs reflect this. Delicate patterning, lush coloring, and embellishments such as silver and gold mica and embossing capture the rich costumes worn by the actors. The soft watercolor-like backgrounds provide a painterly contrast to the carefully detailed figures. These wonderful prints required extreme care on the part of the carvers and printers to bring Kogyo's vision to life. The great Noh print master Kogyo reached the pinnacle of his career with these wonderful, vertical Noh designs. His fantastic series is a great favorite of collectors and a rare and desirable set.
