Id like an appraisal...

Id like an appraisal on a 7-piece set of what I've been told is baleek. A tall pitcher and 6 cups in a dragonfly pattern. I have not been able to find this online. Trying to figure out how to attach photos within this chat box. Can I email photos to you?

Expert's Assistant: I always love having an appraiser look at my stuff. Sometimes its turned out to be surprisingly valuable. Is there anything else the Antiques Appraiser should be aware of?

I would like to know how much I should insure the set for.

Ask Your Own Appraisals Question

Hi,

Thank you for your patience.

The set was not by Beleek from Ireland.

The wares here are porcelain and likely from the region of Limoges, France.

The pieces were originally produced as 'white' or 'blank' wares and then sold for export.

Hobbyist and studio ceramic decorators would purchase the blanks and paint them with their own decoration. This is why you have not found a match, as they were hand decorated and are a one-off design, not a mass-produced pattern. This was a common cottage industry in the late 19th through early 20th century.

Your set is decorated in an Arts & Crafts Period/Glasgow Rennie Mackintosh style and dates to right around 1900 - 1910.

Although the gold is real, there is no longer a precious metal meltdown value as the cost to extract the gold would exceed the value of the amount extracted.

The high value of your set is $300 - $400 on today's market.

Please take a moment to leave a rating by clicking the stars. If you require further assistance, no worries, the question thread does not close even after leaving a rating.
