I have a Mayer painting that I bought in Northern California

I have a Ruth Mayer painting that I bought in Northern California circa 1993-1994. I bought it because it was an awesome painting. It's still hanging on my wall in here in TN. I emailed a picture of it to Ruth Mayer's contact address and some guy replied and told me that it wasn't one of Ruth Mayer's paintings, but a watercolor by an artist with the same last name. Not true. It is her classic signature and style. I would like to know the story behind this OIL painting.

I have a picture of this painting if that will help. I have to tell you that I am VERY skeptical of the assistance that might be provided. I followed this through because of prompts that I received when I went to a website. So, you are telling me that if I am not satisfied with your answer that I don't pay anything?
