so do you have a flame on the entire 360 degrees around the burner head or is the flame just on this side the orange flame is on

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Just shooting out the hole where the igniter is
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
All other burners look awesome
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
When the tech was here I didn’t notice him change the air intake pipe thing....how do I check that?
Appliance Technician: Master Tech, Whirlpool Master Technician replied 2 months ago

What do you mean the air inlet thing?

Do you have this issue after the unit was worked on ?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
the guy from the gas company installed it and told me that it needed new orificea. It didn’t. So now I’ve been reading up on it...you know how to change it from natural to lp
Appliance Technician: Master Tech, Whirlpool Master Technician replied 2 months ago

I know what the burner orifices are . but an orifice will not make the flame orange on one side of the burner .

And you may have missed my one question of did you have this issue only after the unit was worked on ?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
No before as well.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
After it was installed and after orifice change.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Yup I kinda figured it wasn’t the orifices since I had them changed :-)
Appliance Technician: Master Tech, Whirlpool Master Technician replied 2 months ago

Ok have you contacted that service company that was out and this happened after they worked on it ?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
No because I don’t trust them clearly.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Have you heard of this happening?
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
If not I’ll have to go another route.
Appliance Technician: Master Tech, Whirlpool Master Technician replied 2 months ago

from what your stating it sounds as if when they re installed the burner head they got something not aligned up correctly and that is causing the gas to come out of the igniter opening on the burner head .

I recommend you contact them and have them return

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
But you see when they changed the orifice, it ended up being the same one....
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Hence the same problem.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Is the burner head the silver thing on top?
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I watched put a hat in and it only fits one way.
Appliance Technician: Master Tech, Whirlpool Master Technician replied 2 months ago

the burner head is items 10 ,10A,10B,10C in this parts break down .

https://www.partadvantage.com/diagram/1/303/00000084/680/900

What do you mean you watched put a hat in ?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Yup that’s what I meant. I watched him do everything. I like to learn it’s weird I know but the burner heads only go on one way.

Hello, I am sorry nobody has gotten back to you yet. Are you still needing help with this?

If so, is this on LP now? The top burners require a special LP orifice, they have to be changed when converted.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
The orifices have been changed and are the correct ones.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Can you see the previous feed for this issue?
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Yes, I just was not clear if the orifice had been changed. Do you know which orifice was installed on that burner?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question

Customer reply replied 2 months ago
The code was used from the oven
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Behind the drawer.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

The rapid boil burners should use much larger ones. Let me look it up real fast, please.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I’ll go double check what the stove says. That was from memory.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Sorry o was way off. 17000 and 14000 respectively.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

The RF is a 17k BTU in NG, so that will use the 16k LP orifice. The LR burner is 14k NG, so it will use the 14k LP orifice. So, only the RF one is giving you trouble? It should have the 16k LP orifice in it.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
It’s both.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

The color dot should be silver on the RF orifice.

The color dot should be brown on the LR orifice.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
the correct orifices are in as the ratings from the stove were used.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I’m sure they are correct.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Are you able to double check the orifices? There really is no way to get the burner head wrong unless it is forced down. Is it possible the burner heads got switched and the front is in the back and the back is in the front?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I really don’t think so. I mean bothe if them are doing the same thing.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Where the little v is on the burner head. That’s where it’s shooting out.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Could this be caused by something else like the regulator not being set right?
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I mean the gas company guy came and did it...but I don’t know how much experience with appliances he has.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I have read every manual and researched everywhere for this problem. There has to be something else wrong...but what would the other symptoms be?
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

If it was a regulator issue it would affect all burners. It has to be an improper orifice or burner head.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

It only takes a couple of minutes to swap the heads, it is two screws for each one.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Ok I’ll try it.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I’m I don’t have that kind of driver
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
What size is that anyway?
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

It is probably a T20 or T25 Torx, a star?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
No not a star. It like one for my ratchets, but super tiny.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Oh, probably a 5mm or 3mm.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Ok
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

That's pretty odd, the rest of the flame looks good! I think those are a 5mm head.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Ok trying to locate my set to see if I have that size
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Sorry I was ready to go to bed, so I’m a little scattered.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Nope front right burner head does not even fit on the back left burner
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

We can pick up tomorrow, no problem. Okay, so it has to be an orifice issue. Can you see the color dots on them?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
They are on the side.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Can you swap the burner caps and see anything changes, they are the ones that sit on top of the burner heads.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Let's see if that makes any difference, sometimes they are hard to tell which ones they fit, especially with those two burners that are so close in size.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Left rear burner cap is too small for right front
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

I really think we need to verify the orifice colors. You can do so at anytime. tomorrow or whenever you get a chance.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Ok but I’m pretty sure they are right. The book that came with the orifice were matched to the codes on the stove...but I will verify. Do you have others in your field that you can troubleshoot with?
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

I have sent a message to Frigidaire Engineering Dept already but it takes a day or two to for them to get back. I see no issues with this model as far as Service Bulletins, either. This is a pretty simple system as far as the burners go, but I know the first thing they will want to know is orifice, burner head and cap information. Does that flame change when you turn the burner down? Also, was the simmer setting adjusted after conversion? If you remove the knob, the shaft is hollow and there is a small screw at the back for adjusting.

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
The shaft is hollow, but there is not a screw at the back to adjust. The owners manual says that you can’t do that anyway. When I turn it down, the height of the flame goes down...but it is still leaving soot all over my pots.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
The pictures I sent bitg were on high setting.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Did the oven flames adjust properly?

Ask Your Own Appliance Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
when I turn the burner down it all gets lower.
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I can send a picture of that too if you want.
Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Okay, let me know what you find with the orifices.

Appliance Technician: Rusty S, Home Appliance Technician replied 2 months ago

Also, I think it would be prudent to verify the regulator has indeed been converted. Turn the gas off to the range and remove the little cap and see what the brass plug inside shows, either NG or LP. See the picture below.
