My GE profile oven doesn’t heat- I think igniter not working.

Contractor's Assistant: Can you guesstimate how old your GE is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?

Profile slide in, about 10 years old. It is convection and regular, with gas burners

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

What work.

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

If I can diagnose it, maybe but of course am having a dinner tomorrow night

T​he ignitor should come on in either bake or broil mode regardless of the temperature setting. It will not come on if it is on timer or self cleaning mode. Please make sure these modes are 100% off (sometimes knobs/programming look to be off and are not), if all the settings are correct and you do not see the ignitor glowing orange, then it is not receiving a signal from the thermostat. This could be because the door is open (on some models) or there is a problem with the electrical connection coming into the oven. Make sure you have 120v (clocks, lights, clickers) working indicates 120v. If everything is set and is correct, then the problem usually is a thermostat of ignitor element problem and will need to have a service provider make repairs, simply because parts will need to be replaced.
