Customer Question

I have a Maytag Neptune.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Maytag is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: 15 years. MAH4000AWW
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Well trying. I started...
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: The door lock light, I'm told does not come on. The door opens, my wife thinks, on rinse, because the water is clean.

I was told chat would resume as I was directed to pay. I have not related all the relevant information, nor was this the process expected. I want to know how to distinguish the problem from over filling or the wax motor. The circuit board shows no "smoke" around any transistor connections.

Ok so the door will just not lock correct?

Customer: replied 10 days ago.
I am told the light does not come on. The washing machine runs, but then the door opens explosively and clean water comes out.
Customer: replied 10 days ago.
I already requested a phone call which did not say anything about an additional charge. I was told the chat would resume and I had to wait. I'm still trying determine if this service is of any value...

Did you inspect the machine control board in the console yet?

Customer: replied 10 days ago.
I have the washer partly dismantled. Yes. Nothing appeared "smoked". The wax motor has a black top.
Customer: replied 10 days ago.
I have not checked the filter/drain or the fill valves, but it seems if the door light lock doesn't come on, over filling would not be the problem.
Customer: replied 10 days ago.
I'm wondering how to narrow down the failed part... I'm also wondering if I can run the washer with the door on but lid closed front panel off or not for testing.

OK is there power to the wax motor when the unit is in SPIN? Also do all the switches on the door latch work?
