My icemaker quit working, I replaced it with a new one but it still doesn't work .the cold water dispenser still operates.
JA: What's the make and model? And can you guesstimate how old it is?

On the back of the refrigerator there is a valve your home water supply connects to its called the water inlet valve, well that valve has two separate solenoids on it one for the ice maker and one for the water dispenser. The solenoid for the ice maker has failed so the entire valve will need to be replaced, the water dispenser can still operate just fine even thought the ice maker side has failed. The valve is listed below:
