Feb 2003 whirlpool microwave -GT 4185skb-2 has had bright flash of light occur in the sealed microwave compartment in the top of the interior while in operation. What is wrong, and is it safe to use?
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Whirlpool is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: Manufactured Feb 2003 and used in 2003. Model GT4185SKB. Serial # FGP0904139

If that has occurred more than likely the magnetron tube will be burned out, further the mica plate is likely burned out and bad, most parts including that are no longer available for the unit. I would not advise using it as it will arch again or will likely not heat at all. Sorry no other tech got to you sooner, they just posted your question to me.
