Customer Question

My over is showing F5 E7 and the door won't open. Trying to get it open. One of my cats walks on the control sometimes and I think that's what happened
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: Came home at 10:30 last night and the display was showing
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Depends on how technical it gets
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: It's a kitchenaid superba
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your KitchenAid is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: I don't know how old it is. When I bought this place in 2005 it was here already so more than 10 years and other than Kitchenmaid Superba I don't have any model numbers

Your cats walking on the controls didn't cause the issue I'm afraid. This error means that your oven door latch has failed which is why the oven won't unlock. Try turning the breaker off to the unit for 60 seconds to see if it will reset. When you turn the circuit breaker on go inside and push on the door and hold it for a minute or two in case it's rubbing on the door latch not letting it release. If that doesn't work, then try to set the self clean, wait 60 seconds and cancel it to see if that will reset the door latch assembly. If nothing resets the door lock, then you just need to manually open the door and replace the door latch assembly. It's not easy to manually unlock the door. You'll need to use a coat hanger and pull the latch assembly from RIGHT to LEFT by slipping it down between the door and the oven frame at the top. Force the latch over to the left and open the door, then you can remove the panel in front of the door latch and replace the latch assembly.

Now I do want to also add that you may need something stronger than a coat hanger to manually open the door. If you have an "L-shaped" tool like a cotter pin puller or allen wrench, that might give you the added strength to be able to pull on the latch and release it.

This is the same answer I can get for free on the internet. I had already seen this answer

I'm not sure what you mean. I typed this, this is my answer and it's 100% accurate. I can't control what fails on your oven but if you knew the latch would need to be replaced you wouldn't have asked the question. So if I did nothing more than confirm what you thought was wrong then I'm glad I could help you move to the next step.
