Customer Question

I have a Whirlpool Self-Cleaning Electric Range that is model number RF196LXK. We can not get the oven lock off. We cleaned the oven and now we keep getting the code F5 E 1.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Whirlpool is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: We bought it in Sept of 2001. Model is RF196LXKP0
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: AM just concerned as to what the code means. It is 12:30 Am and Do not want to leave it running all night.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: No, Just what the code means. What can we do. Is there safety involved?

The F5 E1 error is a door lock error. Disconnect power to the unit for 30 minutes and see if it resets.
