Whirlpool gold series oven will start preheat process but

Customer Question

whirlpool gold series oven will start preheat process but fails to continue to heat/bake. checked top element and it works through all ranges. i have disassembled stove and have checked voltage to lower element while in bake. voltage is indicated while in preheat but fails to provide it any further no matter where i adjust the oven temp control. is it the control board CPC-E94V-0 (BAD)?
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Whirlpool is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: cant find the mod# ***** anywhere. we are the original owner. all parts with a "Y" say 03
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: have so far
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: when it preheats i can hear the switch in the control panel that coincides with the"heat" indicator on the control panel. but like i said once the oven is preheated the lower element no longer receives power

Is this a built in oven or a range?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
no free standing
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Open the drawer at the bottom and look by the left leg. There should be a model number there.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
another $24?. this is fine if you dont mind
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
no number anywhere
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Ok, generally on the Whirlpool ranges, there are 3 primary components to pay attention to.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
ok, which are?
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

There is the control board, the sensor, and the element. If the element looses voltage, then it is not the element at fault. The sensor should read 1075 ohms at room temp.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

If the sensor reads between 1-40 and 1110 ohms at room temp, then the control board is normally what you would replace.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

However, I always replace the sensor at the same time as the control board.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
sensor?
like i said earlier . the lower element stops getting voltage after preheat
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

You will need to locate the model number for your range in order to order the board, unless you can take it into the parts store and they can match it up or use a number that is on it to cross reference it.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
sensor or control board
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Yes

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Was this helpful?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
cpc--E94V-o
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

That is not coming up as a valid number.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
i have done everything but turn the unit inside out looking for the numbers
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Sometimes the model number is ***** the lid of the range.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
it does when i google it.
i looked
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

But normally when you pull the drawer out and look at the left front leg, it is right there. Maybe the tag came off?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
what type number am i looking for
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
for the sensor or control board
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
maybe the part model number tag did come off
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Usually 6 or seven numerical numbers, often starting with 298

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
i have the control accessed?
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Yes, the model number often starts with WFE and is always accompanied by a serial number.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

I didn't understand your question.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
is that for the control panel
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

No, WFE is usually the prefix for a model number. The control panels normally have part numbers consisting of 6 or 7 numerical only digits - for Whirlpool that is.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

I hope this helps.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
1072-75 invensys appliance controls
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
i have given up looking for the model number part number
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Yes, without a model number, it is going to be real difficult finding the correct part number for that control.

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Do you have the original receipt for the range?

Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

Without the model number, I can't get a part number for you.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
no. tell me where else to look
Expert:  Engineer-Tech replied 10 months ago.

I will opt out and open this up to other experts that may be able to give you a different location to look.
