JA: What's the microwave's make and model? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Samsung, and about 4-6 years old - where would I find the model.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: No I just want to know what that meant
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?

E or 5E codes are usually sensor problems. it is also a catch-all for a keypad shorting issue. if it's either issue then it will need professional service. to test the sensors:

1. With 2 fingers touch and hold the following pads at the same time : pause and cancel
2. Observe diagnostic number in display (Numbers approximate)

ex) 33 (Vs) 39 (Vout) ? Vout Vaule : 10~150 (Normal-verify with "detection test" ) ? Over 150 or Less than 10 (Sensor failed. Check connection of Sensor.)
Sensor Error Code.
E61 - Open error. Sensor unpluged, wiring or smart board
E62 - Short error. Shorted sensor or smart board
