My maytag centennial washing machine makes a squeeling noise

Customer Question

My maytag centennial washing machine makes a squeeling noise occasionally, and it doesn't drain all of the water out. Another expert had me replace the actuator, but the problem persists. What else could it be?

Hello and thanks for using this service! If you are a JA Member I would like to personally thank you and welcome you back! I am Appliance Guru an extremely experienced tech on the site and I try to get to as many customers as I can. NOTE it takes time for me to type research and add links so please wait for me to respond back I can only do this so fast. Secondly, I do not know your skill level so please try and let me know if I am going beyond your knowledge or comfort zone thanks! I strive for a 5 star rating from everyone especially our JA members.

The drain pump may be bad or check the pulley and belt on the unit. Make sure it is tight and not loose causing a spinning issue. Lastly if it is loud during spin the main bearing may have failed and that can also cause this issue. You just have to check it out and see.

All I ask is please use the Star Rating Link at the top of your page before leaving, that is the only way I am paid anything through the site and that will also get you a DIRECT LINK emailed to you to get back to me! are greatly appreciated so thank you very much for using this service. If you have any other questions just post back to me here anytime!

Thanks, ***** ***** had me check the pulley and belt last time, and you had me replace the actuator. The sound can happen during any cycle except for the spin cycle, so I think the main bearing is ok? Sounds like maybe the drain pump? I am hoping to narrow down the location of the sound. If the sound is coming from the right rear, that is the pump? I am hoping the sound becomes more consistent so I can narrow down the location better.

The drain pump is off to the right correct. Try to narrow down the source of the noise

If it is the pump, what is the part number?
