I have a GE cabinet depth French door refrigerator. Model

Customer Question

I have a GE cabinet depth French door refrigerator. Model no. PFCF1RKZA. BB. Ice maker has stopped making ice. There is water in the ice forming tray but it does not freeze even though the temperatures are correct for both frig and freezer. There are two holes on the side of the ice maker that match up with two holes on the left sidewall of the frig. The bottom hole is blowing cold air but not the top hole. Please advise as to the cause of my problem and what is involved in having the problem corrected including approximate cost of same. Thank you for your assistance.

Hello and thanks for using this service! If you are a JA Member I would like to personally thank you and welcome you back! I am Appliance Guru an extremely experienced tech on the site and I try to get to as many customers as I can. NOTE it takes time for me to type research and add links so please wait for me to respond back I can only do this so fast. Secondly, I do not know your skill level so please try and let me know if I am going beyond your knowledge or comfort zone thanks! I strive for a 5 star rating from everyone especially our JA members.

The top hole is the inlet holes fro the freezer section. There is a icemaker fan motor in the freezer off to the left on the back wall in the freezer. That fan is either iced up, not running or the chute is frosted up. This is pretty common on that unit, the back wall in the freezer needs to be removed to check the fan for blockages or ice. The cost typically to fix this issue ranges from 175-300 depending on if you need a fan or not.

All I ask is please use the Star Rating Link at the top of your page before leaving, that is the only way I am paid anything through the site and that will also get you a DIRECT LINK emailed to you to get back to me! are greatly appreciated so thank you very much for using this service.
