Customer Question

re Maytag/Norge CNNT198K REF - TOP MOUNT, purchased 1992!
Freezer coils iced badly. Can't tell if freezer evap fan is faulty. How to remove and replace this fan? Seems to require disassembling the entire fridge with removal of both doors and outside housing. True? false?
mostly thawed and drained now, just waiting.
When I wait 48 hours and turn back on, will evap fan start automatically? will I hear this?
or is there some sort of sensor which only kicks in periodically?

The frost is preventing the fan from running. It will need to be thawed to replace the likely faulty heater, number 32 in the diagram at the link below. You will need to unplug it and leave the doors open for a couple days to totally thaw and then the freezer floor will need to come totally out. This will require a great deal of disassembly!

The link below is to the part you will need from a highly recommended company rated A+ with the Better Business Bureau. They offer a 100% money back guarantee, EVEN ON INSTALLED ELECTRICAL PARTS, for an entire year! They are the only company to allow returns on installed parts for a refund and offer a FULL ONE YEAR WARRANTY!

Both doors do need to come off, followed by the metal trim in between the sections. Once they are removed the floor will slide out and the rest of the components accessed, see link below.
