Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

Hello, I'm Joel and will be glad to help you today.

Sorry for the wait If you still want help I will be glad to assist you. I have uploaded the tech sheet to my google drive for that refrigerator. Following the instructions on the tech sheet enter the service diagnostics mode and run test number 25 and see if the ice maker feels with water and let me know, thanks.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hi are you still there
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

yes

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't understand what to do tho
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

did you read the tech sheet?

Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

This image on the tech sheet is referring to your control panel display and the numbers are corresponding to the buttons on your panel from left to right - click here for image

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok so I enter diagnostic mode prior to doing test 25?
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

yes that is correct

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'm not quite understanding how to do test 25
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I basically enter digit 1 to simulate ice maker fill in
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
On
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Then it's suppose to show status then I press the water dispenser pad or do I have to press digit 2 for water valve on??
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

ok just do this , pop the front cap off the ice maker and you will see to holes one marked with a T and one marked with an H, using a jumper wire, put one end of the wire in T and one end of the wire in H, after a second you should here a click the ice maker should do a harvest cycle rotate back in position and fill with water if it does not fill then the water inlet valve on the unit is bad and needs to be replaced.

this jumper wire must be insulated, because you're holding onto a 'live' 120 volt jumper here.

click here for image of the wire inserted into the proper position

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Why should I skip the first thing you asked me to do with panel? Shouldn't i go through those steps first?
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

no doing that will overide the computer diagnostics so no need for it, plus this way we can rule out any type of computer error as well.

Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

and we know the water dispenser is working because you said it did, so its probably just going to be a bad water valve or there was air in the line for hooking it up and the air has not been purged out of the ice maker line yet so doing the harvest cycle over will get rid of the air if any and put water in if not the valve is bad. That unit has a dual water inlet valve so the water dispenser could work and still not get water to the ice maker.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That cap doesn't just pop off how do I remove it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it's to be connected to power just to make sure
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Cap is off
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Had to take ice maker out
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

yes it is suppose to be connected to power

Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

it will be fine as long as the wire is insulated and you are not touching any bare wire

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The model you showed me of where to put wire is completel different
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

ya it should be still marked as t and h same thing

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Here is a picture
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Only h no t
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Only V,L,H and M
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

they changed them up a little still the same thing put wire in T and H and T is hole at very bottom

Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

isnt that a T

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Nope no T
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok found the unit was covered by black lever
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

Ok good.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It clicked after 30 sec
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It seems like it doing something how long before it fill with water
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

ok you can remove the jumper now and it should finish the harvest and call for water

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Do we close the door and put the tray in
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

it should take a few minutues the arms have to rotate all the way around

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Or can we see it with the door open
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No water just keeps moving like it's going into cycles
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

no there is no ice to dump so no worries and you can leave door open to see if it puts water in.

Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

ya the arm has to make a full rotation

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The arms went around twice and no water
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The arms stopped
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Still no water
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

ok give it just a few minutes

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok I put the tray back and closed the door
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
If still no water after a few minutes what do I do next?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can I turn on an off the full valve?? Or what should I do?
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

If no water still then order and replace the valve:

Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve

Part #: W10498990 - click here

here is a video that shows how - click here

please remember to rate the answer, thanks.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I placed my hand on the inlet valve while my wife presses on the water dispenser and I can feel the valve go on
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

ok on that unit it has one main valve on the back the feeds water through the filter which is the one you are touching then after the filter there is a dual valve that sends water to the ice maker and the water dispenser, so the dual valve is going to be the one that is bad, I linked the wrong valve sorry for that. One second let me give the right part number.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
a diagram or video on how to replace because it's hard to get to
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

Part #: W10312696 - click here

here is a video that shows where and how to access that valve its inside the refrigerator - click here

Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

and here is the parts diagram for it - click here

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
before the valve went out I was having a problem with the ice maker itself not kicking the ice out. The ice extracted would go so far and get stuck but when I put my hand in the and gave it a little push it would continue and drop the ice.
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

ya that is gonna be a issue with the ice maker itself you would need to just replace the ice maker itself to fix that.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What would be the part number for the ice maker?
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

Part #: W10377151 - click here

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
would I change the ice maker motor or the whole ice maker?
Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

I would just replace the entire ice maker its only 43 bucks or so for the entire thing.

Expert:  Joel Swenson replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I thought that it would automatically start getting water
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It's going through second cycle and still no water
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My question isn't resolved?? The same issue still persists
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Anybody there??????
Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I look forward to helping you!

Please know that I am not compensated for my time by the site until you rate using the stars at the top of your page. A rating is appreciated once we get to the solution for your appliance issue, thanks!

If you have replaced the ice maker and the valve and are certain the valve is getting energized, then you likely have no water to the valve. It could be a faulty new valve but that would be very unlikely. Have you been able to verify the valve is getting energized at the end of the harvest cycle?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I never changed the ice maker yet I changed the double inlet valve only so far to see if it gets water to the icemaker
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
If it ant getting water to icemaker I figured why waist more money and change the icemaker and it still don't make ice
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The water side of the freezer works it dispenses water fine just not making ice. No water even getting to the icemaker.
Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.

Is the ice maker sending a signal for the water to fill? Place a jumper in the L and V holes on the ice maker and that should make the water flow, does it?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Trying the l and v now
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I want to make sure I keep you on the chat and not have to wait hours for a response
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it makes the water flow
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The ice maker filled up with water when I did that
Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.

Okay, so that confirms valve and wiring are okay, replace the ice maker. Nice job!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The ice maker has a sending unit in it to tell the valve when to let the water in correct?
Expert:  Kelly replied 1 year ago.

Yes, there are contacts behind that large white gear in the front.
