I have had a GE Profile PTC22SBMALBS now years.

Customer Question

I have had a GE Profile PTC22SBMALBS now for 11 years. Same problem a previous writer had of water draining onto the left platform. Had the problem a few years ago, called a repairman who defrosted and drained the line but problem has returned. Called another repairman about a month ago who said the problem is unrepairable; it can be repaired but will soon recur. We have lived with it for about a month now, simply mopping up the water buildup until we decide to get a new refrigerator. Then, in the last few days, the unit has been making a very loud sound like an engine revving. It will stay on for several minutes to a half hour, go off and then back on again. Is it in fact time to let it go and get a new machine?
Thanks for your help.

Hello and thanks for using this service, if you have been waiting do not worry or get upset. I am Appliance Guru an extremely experienced tech on the site and I try to get to as many customers as I can. I just picked up your question now. NOTE it takes time for me to type research and add links so please wait for me to respond back I can only do this so fast. Secondly I am not paid anything until you rate my service good using the STAR RATING LINK at the top of your page, the money is paid to the site not me directly. Can you take a picture of where the water is building and freezing and upload it here?

Sorry. Can't upload photos right now. The water is collecting but not freezing in the refrigerator on the top left and middle left shelves and especially in a half inch puddle on the bottom of the refrigerator compartment underneath the vegetable and fruit storage compartments. Unfortunately I have to sign off now and hope I can get back to you tomorrow, perhaps after having read your response to this message. Thank you for your help.
