Just installed a new dishwasher Seal to replace an old one.

Customer Question

Just installed a new dishwasher Seal to replace an old one. Followed directions, and part is genuine from factory. Problem is door won't stay closed now. Is this normal with a new seal?

So first, make sure you didn't put the gasket in in incorrectly. When the gasket is pushed into the channel, the front lip should be pointing toward the inside of the tub, not the outside. If it's pointing outward it means that you put the left side of the gasket in the right channel and vice versa.

If the seal is installed properly and you still have issues then it means that either your latch is weak or your hinges are slightly bent. Open the door and see if the door opens past 90 degrees slightly. If it does, then you would need to replace the door hinges. If it doesn't open past 90 degrees then you need to replace the latch assembly because it's getting weak.
