my microwave will not start. I get a message close the door then press start. when I open the door the light does not go on either?

open the microwave door the model /serial tag in on the cooking cavity face frame and mmv5219 is only 3/4 of the full number

This is a door switch issue you have three different door switches.

do you have a volt-ohm meter and know how to use it? to be able to do any testing

ok with out testing anything I can only guess at which one of the switches is the issue .

Ok I would recommend the secondary switch first it is what controls the cooking cavity lights when the door is open and if the control is not seeing the door open and then closed again it will not allow the unit to run .

The secondary switch is the bottom single switch on the door switch bracket just to the left of the console /touch pad and right behind where the door strike go into that face fame to the right of the cooking cavity.
