Hello from JA
My name is Woody.
I will be glad to assist you today.

Can I please have the Full model number of the unit to better assist you ?
All Kenmore model numbers are 10 digits long and look like this 123 .(###) ###-####/p>

You may have not gotten the first three digits

Thank you!

This unit was manufactured by Whirlpool for Sears.

If the filter is hard to remove.

Let`s try turning the water supply off to the unit.

And then call for water to bleed the water pressure off the filter this should make it easier to remove ,then try to push the ejector button and see if it comes loose.

Let me know

don't know how to turn off the water supply

Normally you have a valve under the sink next to the refrigerator or it could be behind the unit also ,which means it will need to be pulled out to get to it ,if it is NOT under the sink.

cannot do this myself

ok then it sounds like you may have to get a neighbor or a family member to assist you then.

I would not call for a service company to just remove the filter and put a new one in ,that could cost you around $100.00 for a service call.
