my dryer gets extremely hot on top, i actually bought a new one and its doing the same thing gets up to 160 degrees on top but doesn't dry clothes, i also unhooked vent in back to test it and still gets hot on top. what can i do to fix this.

With the vent off the back and running do you feel a GOOD amount of air exiting the dryer ? Also, the dryer uses air from your house, pulls the air in across the heat elements , through the drum ( and clothes ) and then exhausts it outside . So is the dryer in a small air tight room where it could possibly quickly exhaust all the available air rather quickly ?
