Customer Question

I have had a leak from my dishwasher, leaking onto the basment floor.
An appliance repairman said that the leak was from an "O" ring. The removal of the pump housing was needed and the total bill is $284. Was that the only way to repair an "O" ring? Could I have purchased a new dishwasher for that money now in Sept. 2015? The dishwasher is a Kenmore, bought new in 2008.
The statement reads - Remove motor-pump assembly, change pump housing, re-install. Tested O.K.
