So you couldn't have wired the sensor incorrectly because it's just 2 wires and it's low voltage which means that it cant create a loud pop. I'm not sure what did short out, but you'll want to pull the oven out and remove the back sheet metal panel to view the power cord and junction block and such. Make sure everything is not shorted or burnt and if all that checks good, flip the breaker off and back on to reset power. If it still won't work, you'd need to replace the control board because the display board shorted out.
