I have a Whirlpool Duet Dryer...Model # ***** Serial # MD4329005
It is stuck on "sensing" with the light on, and will not start. Any simple troubleshooting tips I can try before calling a repairman? Thanks.

Once you select a cycle and press start does the time display count down ? and of course it will tale it 60 second for it to count down.

Ok you either have a faulty control board or a open thermal fuse.

Do you have a Volt-ohm meter and know how to use it?

No hold on ,the meter to test is the easier way but that can be worked around.

Remove the lower front panel of the dryer (two screws under the bottom panel)

and you can bypass the thermal fuse to see it we can get the unit to run.

Is this something you feel you can do ?

A service call just to walk in the door and say HI will run you around $125.00 not including parts and labor.
