I painted my kitchen aid mixer and now it won't start. I took the black screws with the springs out so I don't know if that's it. I covered the motor just like they showed on you tube. I did the same to my sisters and hers won't work either. HELP

Hello, this is Dave. When you pulled out the springs were there square black blocks on the end of the springs?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes, on my sisters they were able to take both screws out but on mine, one of the black bars is stuck
Expert:  Appliance Tech Dave replied 2 years ago.
That would be the problem. These are the carbon brushes that ride on the copper armature. They need to be put back in so the curved end matches the curve of the armature. If the one that is stuck is not touching the armature the mixer won't run. Check the one that did come out and on the other one try to gently push it all the way in with a long toothpick or similar stick or long wood match.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Is that so it can be pushed out on the other side?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Dave, are you still there
Expert:  Appliance Tech Dave replied 2 years ago.
No, it won't go all the way through. Each brush comes in from opposite sides and only goes in until it touches the armature. If the brush came out part way and is stuck you need to push it back in so it touches the armature. It needs to be able to move freely so the spring and keep pushing it in as it wears down.

Ok I will try that. Can I get ahold of you later if that doesn't work.
Expert:  Appliance Tech Dave replied 2 years ago.
Sure, just respond back the same way.

My husband put the brushes in correctly but got a wire mixed up. The electricity is going through the wires but it won't start?
Expert:  Appliance Tech Dave replied 2 years ago.
Does it hum like it is trying to start?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No
Expert:  Appliance Tech Dave replied 2 years ago.
Tell me about the wire that got mixed up?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Would you be able to call? The red and white got mixed up with the red from the bottom.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Are you there?
Expert:  Appliance Tech Dave replied 2 years ago.
I don't have information on the wire colors and can't seem to find it for you. I don't think I will be able to help you.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
He changed everything so it's correct now, what could be the reason it won't start
