Model MFF2558VEM5. Ice forms on bottom freezer shelf, leaks

Customer Question

model MFF2558VEM5. Ice forms on bottom freezer shelf, leaks onto floor. unplugged appliance from elec. outlet and pulled away from wall -- supposed to drain some tube(?). left unplugged for 3 days, moved back and connected to electric outlet, made one batch of ice, now starting to collect frozen water on freezer shelf again. Replaced main control board and thermostat April,2015. Appliance purchased May, 2012. Raised my family on Maytag but this fridge/freezer is a huge disappointment.

Thanks for your question.
You need to remove the rear panel inside the freezer. Under the evaporator there is a drain hole. You need to clear out that hole with a steamer or snake then it will drain properly and you will not have that issue anymore. This unit is made by Whirlpool as they bought Maytag years ago and they are not the same as the old Maytag units at all.
