also i havent seen the little fan on the inside come on or turn by itself yet-condensor fan i think?

Yes, you can do that. If the compressor was running, you have a freon leak most likely. It's common on these units. The evaporator behind the back panel should have 1/16 frost from top to bottom when the compressor is running. If the evaporator does not have 1/16 frost pattern, you have a sealed system issue. The compressor could be insufficient or the freon leaked out of the unit. Check the use and care manual some of these models had a five year warranty on the sealed system.
The fan inside will only run when the door is shut. The fan inside the freezer is the evaporator fan motor. The fan on the back by the compressor is the condenser fan motor. The condenser fan motor should always run if the compressor is running.
