JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

Still there? just checking since i lost connection

Appl-Tech :

Appl-Tech :

what happens when you try to put into the normal cycle?

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

for a few seconds

Appl-Tech :

are you getting any error codes?

Appl-Tech :

Does the door lock?

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

it does not have the LCD display just the LEDs. the green light flashes 9 times then pauses then flashes 1 time

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

the door does lock

Appl-Tech :

If you place the machine into the drain spin cycle, does the pump turn on?

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

yes

Appl-Tech :

I downloaded the tech sheet from Whirlpool, but there is a descrepency with document. My tech sheet says you have a display, but you are saying you don;t

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

no i dont

Appl-Tech :

You will have to access the tech sheet located in the bottom of your machine. Do you have some tools?

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

i have the bottom cover off

Appl-Tech :

do you see the plastic bag holding the tech sheet?

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

no. i just got this washer from a family member so they may have taken it out

Appl-Tech :

damn, what luck :(

Appl-Tech :

lets try something

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

ok

Appl-Tech :

1. Closethedoor.
2. Select any three different keys(exceptPOWER).
Individually press these in a sequence of 1,2,3 and then
repeat this sequence two more times. This sequence must
be completed within 8 seconds of the first keypress.
These three keys are referred to the1st,2nd,and 3rdkey
based on the order pressed.
3. Upon entry into service diagnostics, the console will beep
(if available)and all console LED lights will turn on for
5seconds.

Appl-Tech :

Tell me this works

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

ok the lights lit up

Appl-Tech :

ok let me read something

Appl-Tech :

Press the 3rd key once and tell me if any different LEDs light up

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

all the lights come on and stay on

Appl-Tech :

I think you have a problem with the machine control unit.
This is a grey box that is located under the top cover on the right side.
It controls the operation of the machine

Appl-Tech :

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

ok. i assume i can buy one of these. what is the easiest way to take the top cover off

Appl-Tech :

remove the two screws on the back of the top cover and push it backwards and lift it off

Appl-Tech :

PART NUMBER: W10306715
Sears has this part in stock

Appl-Tech :

click for part

Appl-Tech :

Replacing it , is just a matter of swapping the wires one by one from the old to the new

Appl-Tech :

Dont remove the wires until you have the replacement part

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

I think I pressed a wrong button in the sequence earlier. I tried it again and the light next to wash flashes.

Appl-Tech :

the machine should enter a short diagnostic cycle

Appl-Tech :

it should fill wash and spin out

Appl-Tech :

It would be easier if you had the tech sheet as it would spell out all the steps needed
but at this point I am sure you have a problem with the MCU(machine control unit)

JACUSTOMER-28m1c2r9- :

ok. It is not filling or anything

Appl-Tech :

At this point I can't think of anything else it would be.
If the door locks it should proceed to start filling.
You stated the motor began to turn so I am ruling out the
motor control unit, which is down on the bottom of the machine

Appl-Tech :

The cost from Sears is half the cost of the other suppliers I have checked for you.

Appl-Tech :

Did you have any other questions?
