I put new water filters in GE FSLQF. Vibrates, makes noise, low flow. Change 2 more times; same problem. What's wrong

repairguy :

My name isXXXXX will assist you this evening

repairguy :

When you say that there is vibrating, can you elaborate a little more on that , when it happens?

Customer:

It makes a vibrating noise and has a very low flow. Not at all like it used to have.

Customer:

I think it's air somewhere, but I've let the water run for a long time repeatedly. Also have re-installed new filters in case they were defective.

Customer:

Same behavior continuously.

Customer:

The noise is like a groan.

repairguy :

I would be leaning towards the watervalve over the filter. I dont believe that there is still air there. especially the vibrating noise is more in line with a watervalve than a filter. The valve has a solenoid that is not opening the valve all the way, that is why you have low water pressure. If you give me the entire model number I will locate on for you.

Customer:

hold on

Customer:

GXSL55

Customer:

Is the model of the filter

Customer:

The filter is FQSLF

Customer:

GE SMartWater

repairguy :

I need the model number for the refrigerator, it is located on side wall

Customer:

This is an under-sink water filter. NOthing about a refrigerator

repairguy :

Sorry on second then, I misunderstood

repairguy :

WS18X10009 Inlet adapter, on/off valve

Inlet Adptr-on/off Valve
Customer:

The set I have includes only two filters.

Customer:

Not 3 cartridges

repairguy :

You can buy it from www.automaticappliance.com for $23.5

Customer:

http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SpecPage&Sku=GXSL55F

repairguy :

yeah I see that

Customer:

I'm not looking to buy a new set.

Customer:

I'm trying to figure out why it doesn't work like it used to.

repairguy :

This is not a filter. It is the acutal valve,

Customer:

In the past, I've replaced the cartridges quite easily and it worked well. On about the fourth change (a couple years) this started happening.

repairguy :

That is what I am trying to tell you there is a valve that has gone bad.

repairguy :

when you ask for water the valve has to open to allow the water to go through the filter.

Customer:

oh so I need to replace the valve

Customer:

ok

repairguy :

that is the part number I gave you

Customer:

ok thank you
