We have a Tappan gas stove. The oven will not preheat or warm. It will broil but nothing else. We replaced the ignitor & control board and this did not help. Do you have any help or suggestions for us?
Hello. Thank you for choosing Just Answer. I will be helping you with your question today.

Does the igniter glow when you turn the oven on to bake?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Hi No the oven does not glow when you turn it on. I am unsure where to give a positive rating.

You can rate me once I give you an answer. Do you have a multimeter?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Yes we have a multi meeter.

Ok turn the oven on bake and test the igniter for 120 volts. Do you have 120 volts?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

No it does not

Ok you will need to test the temp sensor next. The temp sensor should have 1080 ohms at room temp. The temp sensor is the metal rod that sticks out the back wall inside the oven
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

We are testing it right now. Is it 1080 or 10.80?

Depending on what you meter is set at it could be either one.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

We are not getting a reading of 1080.

Ok then replace the temp sensor.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

How does it work on broil then?

The sensor might be working on a higher temp setting but not a lower one.
