Trying to remove the stove top of a Whirlpool Slide in stove model # XXXXX so that I can replace the switch
Hello..It is my Pleasure To Be Working With You Today...On this unit you will need to slide the unit out..Then remove the screws which secure the top at each side of the oven..As there are screws under the cook top at the front which hold the control assembly from behind..To answer your question the screws at the side of the oven will need to be removed to gain access to the control.

Is it necessary to remove the 4 screws under the control panel (above the oven door) or is just the screws on the side that I need to deal with?

You will need to remove both To access.

I will check it out, thanks

Part #10 is where the screws are located at the back..
