How difficult and or expensive to fix a L5 error on a Kenmore elite calypso ? I did 2 loads of wash Friday night, Moved Sat. morning, hooked up the washer and now getting this error code. L5- is actually an LS error. it just looks like a 5 , heres the meaning.

The control should flash this error code if the following

conditions occur:

The control cannot detect the lid switch opening and

closing properly.

There is a disagreement between the motor and

machine controllers on the state of the lid switch (the

control should not allow the unit to run in this


The user presses the START key while the lid is open.

The user presses the START key without opening the

lid between cycles. when they moved the machine they may have knocked the lid switch out of alignment. Can you get me the model number ?

I found numbers WRITTEN on the back of the washer. There is no plate to give the serial and model #. The numbers are XXXXXXXXXXX The other # XXXXX XXXXX are either one the model # ? thanks, Pat

I think I found it. this should be the lid switch for yours. sometimes the plastic actuator part can break. check that and replace if necessary. heres a link to the part.
