I have an Amana refrigerator model ARB1917CW, Mfg. no. PARB1917CWO, S/N10589762AG with bottom drawer pull out freezer purchased July 2002, never used the water connection.
Problem: The bottom surface below the the pullout freezzer drawer fills with water and freezes to about 1/4 inch thick in a roughly 7 by 7 inch area. I scrape out the ice every day and it comes back every day. There are open slots at the back end of the freezer compartmrent and there is ice in the bottom slots and ice on the ledge below the slots.
The frezzer compartment stays at 0 deg. F And the upper refrig. compartment goes from 30 deg. to 40deg. on defrost. Can a service man solve the ice problem in the frezzer?

Hello, Thank you for using this service, I will be helping you with your problem today

this is a common problem in these. you have a defrost drain issue, these are tough to work on but if your handy you can fix this yourself. the drain is clogged. remove the back panel in the freezer behind your food and there are coils. in the center of those coils underneath there is a drain hole which is frozen with ice (so the water has no where to go when this defrosts) boil some water and pour it over the ice until it fully melts. when the drain is defrosted and the water drains freely you will be all set. the only thing I ask of you is to please rate me with one of the top 3 ratings. When the drain hole is opened where does the water go? We have never had a drain pan on the floor under the refrig. Where is the water coming from ?
the water goes down under the underneath the refrigerator . there is a built in pan where it then evaporates.
