Customer Question

Our Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator is leaking water from the freezer door after loss of power for ~18hrs. It does seem to be lessening - but will this cause permanent damage? If so, how do we handle it?

Hi Im John I will help you with the fridge leaking problem.

Is the leak from the ice maker , can you see the water leaking from the bin ?

Did you have ice on the freezer floor before the power went off .

Send me the model number please.

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

no the water is not from the ice bin and not from bottom of fridge. Power came on last night at 8:30 pm so everything in the freezer has re-frozen.

model# XXXXX

Also no ice on freezer floor before power went off.

Water seems to be coming from inside the door itself.

The drain tube that drains the defrost water to a drain pan under the fridge is clogged up causing the leak, remove the freezer panel number 17 , you will see the drip pan at the bottom of the freezer coils , clear the tube y blowing air down the tube it should fix the leak problem.

If you require more assistance let me know lease.
