Natural gas smell during oven preheat. Had been minimal smell

Resolved Question:

Natural gas smell during oven preheat. Had been minimal smell which seemed to stop after oven achieved desired temp. Yesterday - very strong smell during preheat.

Do not notice gas smell with range top use or any other time.

Is this something I can trouble shoot by looking for loose fitting/nuts? One forum mentioned a faulty ignitor might cause this.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello, Thank you for using this service, I will be helping you with your problem today

the reason your getting a gas smell in preheat is your igniter is getting weak and when the safety valve opens its not lighting the gas as fast as it should, this is a common problem.this is the igniter, it needs to be replaced. if your handy and have a few basic tools you can do this yourself. would you like a link to order this ?
