Re: Wolf Model AS30KI-1 ,,, Why do the burner ignition sparks

Re: Wolf Model AS30KI-1 ,,, Why do the burner ignition sparks continue once the burner knob is turned beyond the "lite" position? I suspect the problem is either the Spark Module" and/or the burner knob switch(es).

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

Hello, I can help you with this. Do all burners do this?

Customer:

Yes

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

Have you tried cleaning the surface spark ignitors with a wire brush at all?

Customer:

No ,, I presume you mean the igniters @ the burner?

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

Correct. Based on your complaint, there could be only two issues. One would be a build-up if carbon and cooking grease on the ignitor and burner ring.

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

The other would be a failed spark module.

Customer:

Note: all four ignitors are operational when a burner knob is turned on

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

That is normal that when one sparks they all spark.

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

All burner will continue to spark when any burner is on. correct?

Customer:

Is it possible that there is a problem with the switch located at the rear of each burner know (gas controller)?

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

If only one did it then yes. If all show symptoms then no.

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

when you turn any burner on the unit will not stop sparking, correct?

Customer:

I'm leaning toward a failed spark module. Don't see that there is a problem at the ignitors as they are all working. What you say?

Customer:

Do you have a recommendation regarding who to purchase a spark module?

SubZero_Wolf Expert :

I would suspect spark mod, but try this first. i would get a small wire brush (toothbrush size) and try clean one burner really well. Really clean the spark tip and burner ring it sparks too. If that improves it do the same on the others. If not by a spark module.
