I have a gas dryer Maytag MDG7400AWW. the timer only works for actual time settings. It no longer works in Permanent Press InntelliDry or the Regular IntelliDry. Do you have an answer.

Hi,Welcome to Just Answer, My name is XXXXX XXXXX forward to helping you today.

if the timer advances in the timed cycle but not the automatic cycle you need to replace the cycling thermostat. this is located on the blower assembly , its number 8 on this diagram, you can order this @

how do I get to it?

Expert:  Bryan replied 5 years ago.
okay the front panel is removable. #24 on this diagram. take the screws out on the door hinges and the ones on the other side and pull the panel out at the top, once thats off the thermostat is right there on the blower.really easy to replace, just make sure you unplug the dryer before servicing. thanks and best wishes, Bryan

what if the timer does not advance?

Expert:  Bryan replied 5 years ago.
this thermostat sends power to the timer to tell it to advance when it senses the clothes are drying. when these fail the timer doesn't advance in the automatic cycle. once replaced the timer will advance again.

So let me understand, either way the timer will not advance when the thermostat is not working?

Expert:  Bryan replied 5 years ago.
yes on the Permanent Press InntelliDry and the Regular IntelliDry cycle the thermostat controls the timer advance.thats correct.
