for an LT7000XVW0 i just received some remove and replace help

Resolved Question:

for an LT7000XVW0 i just received some remove and replace help from just ask. i ordered a new washer motor which has just arrived. when i took the old motor off i noticed the 3 prong nylon coupler behind the motor and in front of the transmission was broken. just to make sure the old motor was bad and not hung up by the broken coupler i reinstalled it and turned on the dial switch. all it still does is hum so apparently both the motor and coupler are trashed. i'll need to order a new coupler. am i approaching all of this mess correctly?

It sounds like all you need is just the motor coupler. If the shaft of the motor is turning when its humming just replace the motor coupler. If the motor shaft is not turning when you hear the motor humming you could need both. It sounds like you only need the motor coupler which is the most common issue on this particular washer.

so a humming uncoupled motor is probably bad as well as the coupler?
Expert:  Appliance Medic replied 5 years ago.
You need to verify if the shaft is turning when the motor is humming. if it is then you have just a bad coupler if not the motor is bad as well.

one more question. will the nylon piece on the transmission shaft come off easily or is it pressed on?
Expert:  Appliance Medic replied 5 years ago.
The other half of the motor coupler on the transmission will come off easy. Use a flat head to pry the nylon coupler off.
