Hi,Welcome to Just Answer, My name is XXXXX XXXXX forward to helping you today.

does the bake element get red hot when its preheating or baking ?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

No

The top unit is a convection oven and that is what we are working on. We have

it on regular bake and the broil and bake element is the same, and it never gets

red hot. It has now taken 27 minutes to get back to 342.

okay so when it shows 350 its really only 250 ? this means the temperature sensor is bad. you will see this sticking out of the back wall inside the oven, you can order this @ http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Oven-Sensor/74008369/1034676?modelNumber=JJW9630DDS for $24.00. its not reading the temp correctly therefore not telling the element to come on.

OK--is there a way to test the sensor with a Ohm meter?
not really because these may sense correctly (ohms wise) when cool and be totally different when they are hot or warm, the sensor may look good ohms wise cold but not when its heating.
