i just got a new timer for my dryer. it looks identical to my old timer except it has one extra prong for a wire. Can I still use the new timer even though I don't have a wire to connect there?

Yes as long as the other wires hookup the same this should be no problem in running this with the timer you just received, as long as you don't have an extra wires from your machine should be just fine sometimes timers have an extra post if the dryer has some extra function that yours doesn't, go ahead and try it should work fine, thanks, Bryan
