My mom purchased a condo...

My mom purchased a condo at the beginning of this yeas. She has a Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator Model: GR9FHKXPS01. Last night the fridge completely shutdown. No fan noises, nothing. It got warm inside the fridge and freezer. She was able to restart it by turning it off then back on, inside the fridge. At least it seemed that way. I got her to check the condenser coils to see if they were dirty/full of lint. Needless to say there is a bit of lint/dirt. I'm assuming it's never been cleaned since it was installed. The manufacture date is 2007. So my question is what could be causing the complete shutdown. Could it be that the compressor is shutting down because it's getting to hot. Could it be a faulty thermostat.

Yes its very common for a temperture control to do what is happening now. Thats the beginning of the failure. It needs to be changed. The factory part number is 2200859. You can shop anywhere with that number. One place that has that online is just below.

CLICK HERE.

Be sure to unplug the power cord before changing that part. Power is always present in that panel. The tube that runs from the thermostat is hollow and pressured so be gentle with that.
