its only 3 years old and seems to work fine

okay, can you take the drain hose off under the sink where it connects to the disposal and put the hose i a bucket then try the drain cycle? see if it drains into a bucket ? see how fast if so.

yes i can do that. the dishwasher is didassembled right now so i will have to put it back together and run a cycle how can we continue this conversation do i log back on and ask for you

no i have not. when the dishwasher drains we can always here it in my douoble sink i listened for that yesterday and never heard any water draining into the sink or disposal. what drives the drain pump

that picture is the drain pump, do you have a volt meter?

yes i do i guess to clarify is the pump driven by its on electic motor

yes and these fail, the control board sends the power to it, can you run this and test for 120 volts going to the pump when it reaches drain ? if you get 120 volts and it doesn't drain replace the pump, heres a link to order it. http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Drain-Pump/6917641/1469555?modelNumber=MDB5601AWB hope this helps, thanks Bryan

couple more questions someone mentioned a turbulator switch or something like that and secondly the pump will install from the bottom i assume and is there a way i can go directly to drain mode on the front panel
