I have a side-by-side Fridigaire that is about 8 years old. Despite having set the temperature control to maximum setting, at least the freezer is not keeping food cold enough. Food in the refridgerator is also not as cold as it used to be. The doors are opened infrequently and seem to be locking tightly. Any suggestions.
Thank you in advance!

Hi I'm John I will help you with the problem.

You said you defrosted the freezer were the freezer coils frosted up.

Please send me the model number so I may assist you better.

Were the freezer coils frosted up is that why you defrosted the fridge ?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
There was build-up of ice on the back wall of the fridge. However, this was after I had gradually turned the temperature setting colder and colder due to insufficient freezing of food

So the frost was gradually getting worse and not cooling the fridge.

This is the defrost thermostat its a common part to fail in that model , its located on the freezer coils clamped to the top of the coils , I would replace the defrost thermostat it should fix the problem.

If you require more assistance let me know please.
